Mark Scholtz, Pres., Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors
President of the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors, Mark Scholz, kicks off the afternoon session tackling the idea that the future of the industry begins with respect. Scholz is the spokesperson for Oil Respect, a campaign designed to enable Canadians to stand up and demand respect for the country’s oil and gas sector. Mark is also a director of the Enform Board of Directors, the safety association of the upstream oil and gas industry, and a member of its Governance and Compensation Committee.
Michael Phibbs. Pres. & CEO, Chemscape
This topic is followed by the President and CEO of Chemscape, Michael Phibbs CIH, ROH will discuss “Where the “H” is the Health in HSE, understanding Chemical Hazard Assessment and Management.”
Phibbs has spent 30 years working in industrial hygiene in resource industries at the plant, in the field, division, corporate and independent consulting roles. He has written thousands of MSDS’s and performed numerous health risk assessments. Along the way Phibbs has been able to make chemical hazard assessments and predict control measures. Our second speaker is the past chair of the AIHA Exposure and Control Banding Committee and has presented several times on the topic of occupational health assessments and hazard communication.
Kathryn Wilneff, WSP Canada
The third and final speaker is an environmental engineer with WSP Canada. Kathryn Wilneff will look at environmental technology and how to prove to others that it works.
Wilneff is a consulting engineer who helps clients achieve their goals by identifying applicable requirements, then developing and implementing a strategy to meet those requirements. She has more than 25 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering, design, construction, remediation and environmental monitoring projects. She recently managed the technical assessment of a spill containment system as part of an application for Environmental Technology Verification.
